NYT publishes it’s annual hit piece on Glenn Beck about his supposed “fading power”
BEN SAYS: The New York Times, in a piece by David Carr, is making a big deal about Glenn Beck’s supposed declining audience. But all political shows, blogs and publications lose about half their audience in non-election years. In the 5 p.m. EST time slot, Beck gets about the same number of viewers as Sean Hannity who enjoys the covetted 9 p.m. EST time slot. Beck gets nearly three times the viewers Chris Matthews gets in the same time slot. Beck gets more viewers in his time-slot than CNN and MSNBC combined and even runs circles around their prime time line up. Beck consistently scores well ahead of Greta.
Beck had 2,000,000 viewers last Thursday.
The only FOX show that consistently beats Beck is Bill O’Reilly, who occupies the 8 p.m. EST time slot — the best time slot available. Remember, Beck is on at 5 p.m. EST, which is 2 p.m. Pacific Time. About the only way most people can watch Beck is to record his program. Beck is the most recorded political commentary show in the history of broadcasting.
Moreover, Beck has a major Internet presence. So many of Beck’s viewers know they can see, hear and read what Glenn has to say on his Website. If Glenn were to go off TV completely, his fans would find him. Beck’s media company (Mercury Radio Arts) generates about $30 million a year.
I wish my power was fading like this. How’s David Carr’s power doing?
With these facts in mind, here’s what David Carr and the New York Times have to say:
DAVID CARR-NEW YORK TIMES: Since last August, when he summoned more than 100,000 followers [actually

well over 500,000] to the Washington mall for the “Restoring Honor” rally, Mr. Beck has lost over a third of his audience on Fox — a greater percentage drop than other hosts at Fox. True, he fell from the great heights of the health care debate in January 2010, but there has been worrisome erosion — more than one million viewers — especially in the younger demographic.
He still has numbers that just about any cable news host would envy and, with about two million viewers a night, outdraws all his competition combined. But the erosion is significant enough that Fox News officials are willing to say — anonymously, of course; they don’t want to be identified as criticizing the talent — that they are looking at the end of his contract in December and contemplating life without Mr. Beck.
On the other side, people who work for Mr. Beck point out that he could live without Fox News. Unlike some other cable hosts, Mr. Beck has a huge multiplatform presence: he has sold around four million books, is near the top of talk-radio ratings, has a growing Web site called The Blaze, along with a stage performance that still packs houses. Forbes estimated that his company, Mercury Radio Arts, had more than $30 million in revenue.

The liberal hacks are terrified of Glenn, Sean and Bill. They know these men have a loyal and educated audience and following. They do not, cannot, take on what these men have to say so instead they engage in a kind of Hare Krishna chant: “Glenn is losing. Glenn is losing.”
I hear so often liberals saying “Beck is loony, Hannity lies”, and so on. In response I simply ask: “specifics please”. Fortunately I have a lot of other stuff to do, because the specifics are not forthcoming. I even heard one of the protestors in Wisconsin saying “FOX lies! I don’t watch FOX News” — well then, how do you know FOX lies?
I grew up with the likes of Edward R. Murrow and Cronkite. Whatever their shortcomings, when they reported you knew you were getting reportage. The only news channel I know of today that gives you plain reportage is FOX (is there anyone better than Megyn Kelly?). And when you commentary, they have that too. FOX and its commentators are here to stay. kids. Get used to it.
Glenn Beck is the only commentator that I am aware of on TV that tells his audience topical news that matters! But, there is a big divide about telling the truth. He is accurate on his facts, so much that I never miss watching him. Yes, I DVR the show. Today, he wasn’t on because he is taking a vacation. I hope that’s the truth because reading the Times piece made me aware that all is not well for Glenn and Fox. I honestly worry for him and his family because he is alone telling truths that are not welcome with Progressive America. There is on the other side of the divide, Christian America. Christians worldwide are watching. But, we are a silent group because just like Glenn we also are thought to be radical. There is more to the story then is being reported.
Barry Satoro also known as Barack Obama. This is not being reported. With the elitist coming together yearly to speak on their take on how the world should be, “Barry” spoke about what he calls, “Global Governance,” or what now is being spoken as “The New World Order.” You are beginning to hear this more and more. Hillary Clinton and Barack “Barry” working together for their commom goal. Bill Clinton, George Bush Sr. Henry Kissenger. I know, another Conspiracy Theory. No, sometimes the truth is so bazzare that one tends to back away because of public opinion. Now, Barack speaks of a Global Governance,so, how fully engaged with being President of America is he?
