Gas was $1.61 a gallon when George W. Bush left office. Obama thinks $4 for gallon of gas is funny.
This post has gone viral and now has more than 14,000 shares on Facebook. Keep sharing. The American people need to be reminded of this.
The average price for a gallon of gas nationally was $1.61 a gallon when George W. Bush left office. The average price per gallon is now $3.73.
But in many states, the price for a gallon of gas has smashed through the $4 barrier.
I just paid $4.25 today for gas here in La Grange, Illinois. It’s now $4.57 per gallon in Chicago. In California, the price is approaching $5 a gallon.
Experts believe the average national price for a gallon of gas could hit $5 by Memorial Day.
Here Obama tells us high gas prices are good, but says he would have “preferred a gradual adjustment.”
Here Obama explains his transportation plan. It involves phasing out cars.
Here’s another pillar of the Obama energy production plan
Obama thinks inflating your tires will cushion the blow at the pump.

Obama Thinks $4 for a Gallon of Gas is Funny
JAMES TARANTO-WALL STREET JOURNAL: At a town-hall meeting yesterday in Fairless Hills, Pa., a man in the audience asked Obama about gasoline prices, which are currently in the range of $4 a gallon. According to the Associated Press, Obama responded “laughingly” and “needled” the questioner. The president’s sarcasm comes through in the White House transcript:
I know some of these big guys, they’re all still driving their big SUVs. You know, they got their big monster trucks and everything. You’re one of them? Well, now, here’s my point. If you’re complaining about the price of gas and you’re only getting eight miles a gallon–(laughter)–you may have a big family, but it’s probably not that big. How many you have? Ten kids, you say? Ten kids? (Laughter.) Well, you definitely need a hybrid van then. (Laughter.) . . .
So, like I said, if you’re getting eight miles a gallon you may want to think about a trade-in. You can get a great deal. I promise you, GM or Ford or Chrysler, they’re going to be happy to give you a deal on something that gets you better gas mileage.
But you have to actually watch the video clip to get the full flavor

What he is talking about is what Obama has done. If you want to talk about Bushes term start a post and talk about it. We are talking about Obama’s term. Sorry if you can’t tell the difference
So I went to bed one night, got up the next morning and gas had gone up 10 cents a gallon because demand increased overnight? A few days later the same thing happened, and it’s because demand increased? I can go by the gas station on our corner in the morning and again at night and the price has gone up 6 or 8 cents. That’s from demand going up??? Yeah right. The reason prices are so high is that back in the 70′s we knew there was a problem because we were waiting on long lines to get $7 worth of gas, but every time anyone tried to drill for oil, the greenies came out and cried about it. So here we are, 30 years later, dependent on foreign oil when we could have been independent by now. So what’s really to blame? Our government (Republicans and Democrats alike) for not taking the lead when they should have. And the people for re-electing the same politicians who got us in this fix in the first place.
Quite right lindamom25 – when you went to sleep the continents of Africa, Asia,Europe, and Australia all quit using and demanding oil. Nothing in the world could have possibly affected the price of oil while you slept. Can you get it through your small mind that we are operating on a global economy?? The reason that prices are so high is the industrialized countries insatiable thirst for a finite amount of crude oil that is available. You want to see high gas prices? Just wait til China emerges with a true middle class. We saw a little of it in 2008 when gas prices were over $4. When China starts sucking on the oil straw, $4.00 per gallon will seem like a bargain.
The answer is for we Americans to decrease our demand for oil. I am a conservative person, a Republican, but I know that we are not going to “Drill Baby, Drill” (how stupid) our way out of this problem, especially when we are dealing with resource that has a finite quantity. While increasing RESPONSIBLE U.S. oil production does need to occur, the long term solution is to decrease our consumption, and the alternative(s) must come from renewable sources. I am so sick of the blaming game from everyone, but no action.
It was clear long before he was elected President that Obama could care less about us paying high prices for gasoline. He is, after all, a radical liberal tied to environmental extremist groups who want to return man to living in teepees. They do not realize that oil is used in far more things than producing gasoline. Take a look around your house and see all the items made up of plastic. We would have no plastic if it were not for oil. We would have no manufacturing, no computers (plastics), low amounts of electricity IF ANY, no mechanical transportation, etc. To a radical liberal, this is good. One nut job actually suggested each of us should only use one square of toilet paper per use. She didn’t say how we could perform this miracle and didn’t say she herself followed this advice. With these whackos, it is for the rest of us to comply to their nonsense, NOT THEM (check out Al Gore’s electric use for an ey opener)! However, they never consider the alternative to getting rid of oil. The Alternative: We will all turn to wood or coal for heat & cooking (imagine the horror of tree huggers like Al Gore). We will need light so to fuel our lamps we will turn back to whale hunting (look out, Greenpeace needs a sedative!). Next, we need some form of transportation and of course, the horse is the logical alternative to autos. But one major problem my liberal boobs: we will need millions of horses and they produce dangerous (lol) greenhouse gasses when they burp and, well, to be polite, pass gas! Can you imagine the horror of the Human Society, Sierra Club, PETA, Animal Liberation Movement, etc. when they see all these horses being used as beasts of burden once again, and when they are used up being sent to the glue factories?
So, these radical groups that support the President (and he supports them) want us to return to the stone age BUT will not allow us to use what is available to survive once we get there. We will be attacked by them in our stone age society just as we are today in our current life style. These radicals will never be happy until man is extinct! Of course, they haven’t thought that one through either because they will be gone just like the rest of us!!! :)
Gas prices the past 6 years: http://www.GasBuddy.com/gb_retail_price_chart.aspx?city1=USA%20Average&city2=&city3=&crude=n&tme=72&units=us
Back in 2008, during the administration of George W. Bush, gas prices hit a high of around 4.12 per gallon on a national basis, hitting an average of 4.61 in parts of California.
To talk about this like it’s Obama’s fault now and not to blame Bush for gas prices in 2008 is blind. The same, for those who blamed Bush back in ’08 and now aren’t blaming Obama in ’11.
