EPA’s avalanche of new climate change regulations will require 230,000 new federal bureaucrats to enforce
And then Obama wonders why U.S. manufacturing is moving overseas along with the jobs.
DAILY CALLER: The Environmental Protection Agency has said new greenhouse gas regulations, as proposed, may be “absurd” in application and “impossible to administer” by its self-imposed 2016 deadline. But the agency is still asking for taxpayers to shoulder the burden of up to 230,000 new bureaucrats — at a cost of $21 billion — to attempt to implement the rules.
The EPA aims to regulate greenhouse gas emissions through the Clean Air Act, even though the law doesn’t give the EPA explicit power to do so. The agency’s authority to move forward is being challenged in court by petitioners who argue that such a decision should be left for Congress to make.
Solyndra among five Obama stimulus firms to go bankrupt. Three of the firms were “green jobs” alternative energy firms.
FOX NEWS: Solyndra, the solar panel company whose highly publicized failure and consequent investigation by federal authorities has flashed across headlines recently, isn’t the only business to go belly up after benefiting from a piece of the $800 billion economic stimulus package passed in 2009.
At least four other companies have received stimulus funding only to later file for bankruptcy, and two of those were working on alternative energy.
Evergreen Solar Inc., indirectly received $5.3 million through a state grant to open a $450 million facility in 2007 that employed roughly 800 people. The company, once a rock star in the solar industry, filed for bankruptcy protection last month, saying it couldn’t compete with Chinese rivals without reorganizing. The company intends to focus on building up its manufacturing facility in China.
RAW VIDEO: Watch buffoon Obama praise Solyndra, which the FBI now believes was a criminal enterprise.
QUESTIONS: Is the purpose of the FBI raid to cover up the scandal and bury it? Or will we actually find out what happened to our tax money?
Here Al Gore talks to the Aspen Institute about his frustrations with the public’s declining belief in the man-made global warming (renamed climate change) ruse.
Woah! Better start pumping more of those hydrocarbons and green house gases into the atmosphere.
U.K REGISTER: What may be the science story of the century is breaking this evening, as heavyweight US solar physicists announce that the Sun appears to be headed into a lengthy spell of low activity, which could mean that the Earth – far from facing a global warming problem – is actually headed into a mini Ice Age.
Ice skating on the Thames by 2025?
The announcement made on 14 June (18:00 UK time) comes from scientists at the US National Solar Observatory (NSO) and US Air Force Research Laboratory. Three different analyses of the Sun’s recent behaviour all indicate that a period of unusually low solar activity may be about to begin.
The Sun normally follows an 11-year cycle of activity. The current cycle, Cycle 24, is now supposed to be ramping up towards maximum strength. Increased numbers of sunspots and other indications ought to be happening: but in fact results so far are most disappointing. Scientists at the NSO now suspect, based on data showing decades-long trends leading to this point, that Cycle 25 may not happen at all.
Some fun Memorial Day skiing!
Is Global Warming really the problem? Or are we actually sinking into another Ice Age?
Mammoth Mt, California has so much snow (a 10 to 19-foot snow base) that it’s planning to stay open for skiing through July 4, and maybe all summer.
Here’s what Mammoth Mt is looking like now — just a few hours from the Pacific coast:
This is not a good development for the Easy Bake Oven
ASSOCIATED PRESS: Two leading makers of lighting products are showcasing LED bulbs that are bright enough to replace energy-guzzling 100-watt light bulbs set to disappear from stores in January.
Their demonstrations at the LightFair trade show in Philadelphia this week mean that brighter LED bulbs will likely go on sale next year, but after a government ban takes effect.
The new bulbs will also be expensive — about $50 each — so the development may not prevent consumers from hoarding traditional bulbs.
The technology in traditional “incandescent” bulbs is more than a century old. Such bulbs waste most of the electricity that feeds them, turning it into heat. The 100-watt bulb, in particular, produces so much heat that it’s used in Hasbro’s Easy-Bake Oven.
Welp, that settles it then. Obama must be right on this.
U.K. DAILY MAIL: Crazed cult leader Charles Manson has broken a 20-year silence in a prison interview coinciding with the 40th anniversary of his conviction for the gruesome Sharon Tate murders – to speak out about global warming.
The infamous killer, who started championing environmental causes from behind bars, bemoaned the ‘bad things’ being done to environment in a rambling phone interview from his Californian jail cell. ‘Everyone’s God and if we don’t wake up to that there’s going to be no weather because our polar caps are melting because we’re doing bad things to the atmosphere. ‘If we don’t change that as rapidly as I’m speaking to you now, if we don’t put the green back on the planet and put the trees back that we’ve butchered, if we don’t go to war against the problem…’ he added, trailing off.
BEN SAYS: Wait, this makes no sense. Charlie’s big theory was called “Helter Skelter.” The murders were part of his master plan to trigger worldwide revolution and chaos. So shouldn’t he be happy about the worldwide chaos that would ensue from Global Warming?
This is a guy who has a swastika carved into his forehead.
This is a guy whose “Helter Skelter” plan involved trying to make whitey think blacks had committed these murders so that this would trigger a worldwide race war. Manson would then somehow emerge from the chaos as the leader.
Great plan, right? And he had hundreds of followers!
So now Manson’s become a conventional garden-variety liberal? An Obama supporter?
The ultimate paying homage to “The Man.”
ASSOCIATED PRESS: Runways too snowy to receive airliners packed with football fans. Sidewalks too icy for cowboy boots. Temperatures too cold to distinguish Dallas from Pittsburgh or Green Bay.
Just two days before the Super Bowl, a fresh blast of snow and ice canceled hundreds of flights, transformed highways into ribbons of white and caused dangerous sheets of ice to fall from Cowboys Stadium, sending at least six people to the hospital. It was enough to turn the biggest week in American sports into a Super Mess.
The six people hurt Friday were private contractors who had been hired by the NFL to prepare the stadium for the game. One man was hit in the head, another in the shoulder. None of the injuries was considered life-threatening.
Most stadium entrances were closed as a precaution. Officials raised the temperature inside the arena in an attempt to melt remaining ice.
2010 South Florida Weather Year in Review
Coldest December on Record Concludes Year of Extremes
December 30th, 2010: Temperature and precipitation extremes marked the weather of 2010 across South Florida. A cool and wet January through March was followed by the hottest summer on record, and then concluded with the coldest December on record for the main climate sites in South Florida (details on the above mentioned periods will be included below).
Here are December 2010 temperature averages for select sites (through 7 AM Dec 30th):
** Present Miami Beach and Moore Haven temperature data may not be totally comparable to historical data due to difference in time of daily reports which causes double-reporting of low temperatures.
