Dem Congressman called for shooting Florida Governor Rick Scott

How did this go unnoticed?

TIMES-TRIBUNE [October 23, 2010]: This week  Mr. Kanjorski told The Times-Tribune editorial board about how large companies don’t want the government changing the way it does business because they make big money off the government, and about how he’s getting closer to supporting a single-payer health care system “because the health insurance industry is about as corrupt as you can ask for as an industry.”

“They’re blood suckers,” he said.

This was followed by a reference to Rick Scott, the Republican candidate for Florida governor, who was ousted in 1997 as head of the giant health care company Columbia/HCA, amid the nation’s largest Medicare and Medicaid fraud scandal. The company paid $1.7 billion in fines and civil settlements.

“That Scott down there that’s running for governor of Florida,” Mr. Kanjorski said. “Instead of running for governor of Florida, they ought to have him and shoot him. Put him against the wall and shoot him. He stole billions of dollars from the United States government and he’s running for governor of Florida. He’s a millionaire and a billionaire. He’s no hero. He’s a damn crook. It’s just we don’t prosecute big crooks.”

The word choice might produce some outrage, at least partly because Mr. Scott was never charged with a crime, but it demonstrates perfectly what we’re talking about.

GOP Proud Chairman mops floor with MSNBC host

BEN SAYS: GOP Proud’s Christopher Barron does a great job here. The MSNBC host confuses opposition to the Gay Agenda (gay marriage, gay couples adopting children, gays serving openly in the military) with, what he calls, “hating” people who are gay. I have relatives who are gay, friends who are gay, and we all get along fine.

What most conservatives object to is the in-your-face approach of the organized Homosexual Lobby. For example, the hyper-sexualized Gay Pride parade antics and the Gay Agenda in the public school curriculum. We’re not fans of sex education in the public schools to begin with (for a host of reasons). But when it’s infused with “Heather Has Two Mommies” in elementary schools, that’s when most parents put their foot down. We just don’t think grade schoolers need to hear about anal sex from their teachers.

And why should the military have to deal with gays “coming out of the closet”?  Why should we be talking openly about sex at all if we’re in the military?  It’s no one’s business.  So “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” actually works pretty well.

Being in the military is not about being able to “express who I really am.”

It’s about fighting and killing the enemy.  What does anyone sexual orientation have to do with that mission? — except to the extent that conduct becomes an issue.

Most conservatives think homosexual sexual activity is morally wrong. But we also certainly don’t want the government policing people’s private lives.

Conservatism (as it plays itself out in the political arena)  is mostly about restoring limited Constitutional government, opposing the ever-expanding state, and having a strong national defense. Many gays also want that.  Gays suffer under Obamanomics just like everyone else.

If we disagree on some aspects of traditional moral values (i.e. Gay marriage) I’m happy to have their support and help on all the other issues I care about.
