NEWSBUSTERS: As NewsBusters reported Wednesday, the liberal website Wonkette published a truly disgraceful piece earlier in the week about Sarah Palin’s Down’s syndrome son Trig.

Under intense pressure from readers and advertisers, the site’s editor took the post down Thursday:

A post on this page satirizing Sarah Palin using her baby as a political prop was very badly done and sounded like the author was mocking the child and not just Sarah Palin/Sarah Palin’s followers.

The writer, Jack Stuef, has apologized for it. And we have decided to remove the post as requested by some people who have nothing to do with Sarah Palin, but who do have an interest in the cause of special needs children. We apologize for the poor comedic judgment.

After our article and others from conservative as well as liberal websites expressed outrage for the now deleted post, pressure was put on Wonkette editor Ken Layne by some unlikely sources including Mediaite’s Tommy Christopherand Slate’s David Weigel.

When Layne unrelented, companies such as Papa John’s Pizza, Huggies, Nordstrom, and others cancelled their ads.

BEN SAYS: The questions now are: When will Obama apologize to General McChrystal for believing Rolling Stone’s false article without first conducting an investigation, or even a review of the allegations? When will Rolling Stone issue an apology to McChrystal. When will the reporter and editor responsible for this garbage be fired?  When will McChrystal file his lawsuit against Rolling Stone, and for how much?

NEW YORK POST: Nearly a year after being fired by President Obama as the top US commander in Afghanistan, Gen. Stanley McChrystal has been cleared of wrongdoing by the Pentagon, as has his staff.

It’s about time.

McChrystal had served his country with distinction for decades, a special-forces officer known for a Spartan personal ethic, intense loyalty to the troops he led and single-minded dedication carrying out the orders at hand.

But he was abruptly relieved of command last June after Rolling Stone quoted some of his top military and civilian aides making disparaging remarks about administration figures, including Vice President Joe Biden and National Security Adviser Gen. James Jones.

This is very strange stuff.

Lawrence O’Donnell seriously might be in need of psychiatric help. It’s hard to imagine any normal red-blooded male acting this way unless he has some kind of mental health issue. Whatever the problem, it’s clear that Lawrence O’Donnell would not have lasted one day under the command of General George S. Patton.

Hey Lawrence, perhaps you should try to follow up Chris Cocker with a YouTube video of your own. Here’s the model for your next performance . . .

What a warrior.

David Brooks used to be a conservative (sort of), or at least some sort of neocon. But his paycheck comes from the New York Times. So he’s become a parrot for elitist liberal thinking. In other words, his opinions and writings no longer have any value. To say NPR has no liberal bias is just laughable on its face. They fired Juan Williams, for Pete’s sake, because he was too conservative for them. Now James O’Keefe exposes NPR’s institutionalized anti-Jewish, anti-Tea Party, anti-conservative, anti-Republican bigotry.

Stunning that David Brooks (who is Jewish) thinks NPR’s anti-Jewish bigotry is fine.

O’Keefe: “People are not going to be honest with you when you have a notebook or you’re in front of a podium.”

ASSOCIATED PRESS: A follow-up video from conservative activists targeting NPR shows that its former CEO and its top lawyer were aware of a potential $5 million contribution from a phony Muslim group.

NPR has said the group did not meet its standards for potential donors and that it never came close to accepting the donation.

The video includes recorded phone conversations between NPR executive Betsy Liley and an activist posing as a wealthy donor from a nonprofit with ties to the fundamentalist Muslim Brotherhood. They discuss the logistics of such a donation and the circumstances under which the gift could be kept anonymous.
