After day of golfing, Obama parties it up at Gridiron Club . . . while 10,000 die in Japan, Quadafy slaughters rebels, U.S. economy collapses
WASHINGTON POST: It took three attempts, but the Gridiron Club — a vestige of swampland-era Washington — finally got President Obama to show up for their annual dinner Saturday night. And yet what did they get? No respect, we tell you — no respect!
How exciting, the president told the 650 guests at the downtown Renaissance Hotel, to be meeting at a time when great change is sweeping the world and driving out the old regimes.
Pause. “Look out, Gridiron Club.”
By that point, though, Obama had already been serenaded by a gang of Gridiron members, impersonating the
GOP House leadership while dressed as Hell’s Angels, about how they’re “gonna block Barack around the clock,” to the tune of the old Bill Haley song.
Obama hits the golf course on Saturday
ABC NEWS: For the second week in a row, the most powerful man in the world stepped away from the White House to hit the golf course.
Even as his administration and the U.S. military help Japan recover from a devastating earthquake, and as the
world worries about Fukushima’s nuclear reactor, the president could not resist taking advantage of the 48-degree weather in the Washington, D.C., area.
The president left the White House Saturday afternoon for a short trip to Joint Andrews Base in Camp Springs, Md.
